Punk developed in the mid 1970s in the United States and the UK. By 1976 groups such as, The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Ramones were recognized as the front line groups of a new musical movement.
The Sex Pistols formed in 1975 and comprised of Johnny Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, who was later replaced by Sid Vicious. Although their career only lasted just over two years the group are seen as one of the most influential of our time. In 2006 the group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.

The Clash formed in 1976 as one of the first wave of British punk bands. The group comprised of Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Nicky ‘Topper’ Headon. The Clash released a total of six albums including The Clash (1977), Give’ Em Enough Rope (1979) and the seminal London Calling (1979).
