Punk developed in the mid 1970s in the United States and the UK. By 1976 groups such as The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Ramones were recognised as the front line groups of a new musical movement.
The Sex Pistols formed in 1975 and comprised Johnny Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock who was later replaced by Sid Vicious. Although their career only lasted just over two years the group are seen as one of the most influential of our time. In 2006 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
